Sho Sugita is a translator, poet, and sound artist based in Matsumoto, Japan. He graduated with an A.B. from the University of Chicago and an M.F.A. from CUNY Brooklyn College. His translations of Japanese historical avant-garde works have been widely published internationally. Spiral Staircase: Collected Poems of Hirato Renkichi was shortlisted for the Best Translated Book Award. His own poetry explores the theory and practice of translation, the idea of authorship, and the history of cultures.
